Even German Pharmaceutical Companies Hate Cannabis, Source: http://www.stimme.de/storage/pic/eigenebilder/verschiedenes/2369397_1_50402190.jpg?version=1406047197A recent article showcased the hesitance of German pharmaceutical companies to get behind cannabis legalization. Did I say hesitance? I meant something more along the lines of vehement opposition.

It should surprise no one that this is the case. Looking at our own American pharmaceutical corporations, we can see why their German brethren are following suit.

“Cannabis can make diseases more bearable. Sometimes, it can even fight them successfully. There are people who claim that cannabis is the best pain relief that they have ever tried, better than, for example, Ibuprofen, and better than paracetamol because it has no side effects. And the best part about it: everybody could easily grow cannabis in the garden. For free.

However, the self-cultivation of cannabis is — with a few exceptions — illegal.

The German pharmaceutical lobby would probably like to keep it that way. A drug that costs no money but has great benefits is a pretty strong competitor for established drugs that cost a lot and perhaps fight the original symptoms but bring with them new pain. “

That’s the hard truth of it right there. Pharmaceutical companies do not want you to feel good or be healthy. That would bankrupt them. If you can give a sick person a pill that temporarily relieves their symptoms, they will invariably come back for another one once their pain returns. When you have what they need, they will pay whatever ridiculous price you’re asking. If you’re thinking that sounds an awful lot like a drug dealer or a Mad Men sequence pitching advertising to a tobacco company, you’re on the right track.

Cannabis poses the single biggest threat to Big Pharma’s bottom line. Mark my words, once they lose the fight and cannabis is legalized nationwide, they will try and lock down a patent on strains and seeds. These corporations care only for money. People, to them, are little more than the human-batteries that power their industry.

In America, Big Pharma has a history of funding anti-cannabis campaigns, under the auspices of caring about public health. Cannabis is dangerous, they say. It’s highly addictive, they say. Yet, they have no problem whatsoever pedaling opiates that are insanely addictive and kill more than 16,000 people annually.

Compare that to cannabis which is less addictive than alcohol (we’re talking in the neighborhood of 9% addiction rate and even that number is fishy when we start to break down what addiction actually means). And as far as death tolls, it’s not even a contest. Cannabis has never killed anyone… ever. Opiate pills kill tens of thousands each year.

The sad part isn’t that the pharmaceutical corporations are dishonest and self-serving. The sad part is that we collectively fell for it and continue to do so. The only reason Big Pharma (here, and now in Germany) tries so hard to make cannabis into a monster is because they are terrified of it. No amount of lobbying or government bribery can stop the growing tide of mass acceptance. Once people learn they can grow their own safe medication for pennies, why the hell would they go looking for high-cost pills?

I would not be shocked in the slightest to find out that Kevin Sabet and Project SAM spend their off nights swimming, Scrooge McDuck style, in a giant pile of filthy pharmaceutical money.

Cannabis wants you to be happy and healthy, that’s why it reacts to our bodies the way it does. Big Pharma wants you sick and dying, just dying slowly enough to milk every dollar they can from you before they kick you into an early grave and try to sell their pills to your children.
