Great Music While High: From Indian Lakes, Source: http://subterraneansounds.blogspot.com/2012/03/highlighted-artist-from-indian-lakes.htmlFrom Indian Lakes is a great band for the reflective toker, with lyrics touching on deep subjects such as dealing with familial expectations and finding one’s identity. With songs ranging in emotion from melancholic to bright and happy, From Indian Lakes is sure to capture your attention with their passionate vocals and skillful musicianship.

The Indie Rock band was formed in 2009 in a small mountain town just outside Yosemite National Park, California. Founding member, Joey Vannucchi started writing and recording songs in a friend’s studio in Indian Lakes, California. Vannucchi uploaded the songs to Myspace under the title “Songs From Indian Lakes”, which was later shortened to the band’s current name. From Indian Lakes signed to Triple Crown Records in 2013 and releases its third album, Absent Sounds this month.

The appeal to From Indian Lakes comes from the powerful and captivating vocals which are matched perfectly in tone by the artful guitar work. The band is quite refreshing in just how real they are, revealing the deepest emotions of the heart in their music. From Indian Lakes deals with many explorative concepts and coming of age issues, putting passion into every single song. A popular track “We Are Sick” from the album Able Bodies “deals with the idea of following large crowds and doing what you’re told” according to Vannucchi. “It’s easy to do something when it will make everyone around you happy, but it might not be what your heart truly feels is right. I feel like I struggle with this almost every day of my life.”

If sitting back at night with a joint and contemplating the intricacies of life is your thing, From Indian Lakes is definitely for you.
