Meditate While You Medicate: Gratitude, Source: http://www.theayurvedicpath.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/10/ManMeditating.jpgMeditation is an essential component for peace of mind and a healthy lifestyle. It facilitates healing and gives us a chance to see clearly. This series, Meditate While You Medicate, will focus on different meditation techniques that can be performed in conjunction with heady indica strains. Practice daily for clarity, focus, peace and enlightenment.

Gratitude is a very powerful healing attitude. When we pause to be grateful for the positive aspects of our lives, we raise our vibration and call further positive energy to us. By nurturing the feeling of gratitude within ourselves, we can discover greater peace of mind and happiness. Follow this simple exercise to give thanks for the positivity in your life and tap into higher energy. If you have a meditation partner, try taking turns reading the instructions below, softly and slowly to one another.

  1. Create a comfortable setting, with a comfortable spot to rest. Before you begin, smoke or vape some Blue Cheese, a psychedelic indica known for greatly increasing feelings of happiness and euphoria. Once comfortably stoned, sit in a comfortable cross-legged position, rest your hands on your thighs and gently close your eyes.
  2. Begin to focus on your breath. Take deep, slow breaths in and out. Allow the day to melt away, as you bring yourself to center. Deep breath in, long and slow breath out. Let the tension and stress exit your body, as you allow relaxation to settle in.
  3. Once your mind feels steady, smile. Even if you feel like there is no reason to smile, bring your lips into a steady smile and hold it. Then, begin to let your mind wander to the positive aspects of your life. Begin to feel gratitude. As you breathe, give thanks for what you have.
  4. Be grateful for your breath. Be grateful for loved ones, a home, mobility, health, clothing, food on your plate, water at your tap. Be grateful for what moves you, for what inspires you. Be grateful for the things in your life that matter to you. No matter what you do not have, search for what brings positivity to your life, and take a moment to truly appreciate it. Allow gratitude to sweep over you.
  5. Hold this state of mind for as long as is comfortable, giving thanks for everything you can think of. Finally, at the end, bring your hands together at your heart center in prayer position. Take another few deep breaths in, and then bend slightly at the waist, bowing your head to the universe in gratitude.

When finished, slowly open your eyes and smile.
