Product Review Rastraberry Soda, Source: https://d2kxqxnk1i5o9a.cloudfront.net/uploads/pictures/menu_items/421595/large_Thcsoda.jpgAt the dispensary the other day I picked up a cannabis-infused soda called Rastraberry. I’ve never had a cannabis-infused drink, so I decided to give it a go. This one was six dollars and contained the following:

  • Rastraberry Drink - Weedist8oz. serving size, 1.5 servings per bottle
  •  33mg cannabis extract
  • 127.5 calories
  • 9mg sodium
  • 31.5g carbs
  • 30g sugars
  • high fructose corn syrup
  • carbonated water
  • vegetable glycerin
  • citric acid
  • natural and artificial flavors
  • sodium benzoate (preservative)
  • tragacanth gum
  • propylene glycol
  • red 40

The drink is under the THC treats line by a company called Plant It Earth. Looking at the nutritional information, it doesn’t seem very healthy so might not be good as a medicinal drink. My overall impression was slightly negative. It tastes alright, kind of like a carbonated Capri Sun: not great, but it isn’t gross either. I was expecting it to taste like weed, but it did not, probably due to the fact that it used a vegetable glycerin extract.

Rastaberry Info - WeedistI drank it about an hour and a half after eating dinner, and an hour after finishing it I still didn’t really feel anything. No noticeable head or body high. My tolerance is on the higher side, so this probably played a role. About two hours after drinking it, I still didn’t feel anything and determined that I wasn’t going to.

The drink has 33mg of cannabis extract and I really have no idea how much that is. I only understand measurements like this if they’re in grams. For example, if I get a special brownie and I know that it has a full gram, I can figure out how much is good to eat at one time. Or, if the drink had a full gram, I would know to drink less than half of it. With milligrams, I am lost.

I was slightly disappointed with the Rastraberry drink. It was basically a six dollar soda. However, I feel it’s important to note that I also have the same experience with tinctures, and so it may be that I just don’t respond well to cannabis in liquid forms. They just might not be for me. I hear that the lemonade versions of the drink are really powerful, so maybe I need to try that out.

If you’ve never had a cannabis drink, I would still suggest trying it out. We all respond and are affected by cannabis in different ways depending on the form. Liquid forms might not be for me, but I respond well to edibles, flowers and oils. If you want to try one out, go for the lemonade, and as always with digestible forms, be careful that you don’t consume too much!
