Great Music While High: The Allman Brothers Band, Source: http://cbsradionews.files.wordpress.com/2013/10/allman-brothers-comcast-center-01.jpgThe Allman Brothers Band is a stoner classic. I’m sure plenty of Weedists out there have spent some time gettin’ high and listening to this band. If you haven’t yet toked up and tuned in, you’re in for a real treat. You can thank me later.

The Allman Brothers formed in 1969, and continue touring to this day. Their blues/rock music remains timeless, and their live performances never disappoint. I’ve had the pleasure of seeing them three times in the past year, and they remain a powerful musical force. Their annual festival, Peach Fest, is a stoner dream. Held in the mountains, the festival grounds feature a water park. That’s right, you can get stoned and float around the lazy river while listening to a huge array of really, really good music.

Thank you Allman Bros, you guys just get us.

“We got your back.”

For longtime fans who are interested in getting up close and personal, this year is the second annual Roots Rock Revival. Held by drummer Butch Trucks and bassist Oteil Burbridge, and featuring many other special guests, it’s a great event for the stoner musician who wants to chill with The Allman Brothers in the beautiful Catskill mountains. Speaking as a Weedist who attended the event last year, trust me when I say, this event is happenin’.

It’s worth noting that old and new fans alike may want to make a point of seeing The Allman Brothers live this year, since they’ve just announced their final tour. Luckily, the band is in high gear with a lot of great tour dates, which means 2014 is looking like a golden year to see them live.

Whether you’ve listened to The Allman Brothers all your life, or are just getting acquainted now, I encourage you to sit outside one of these early, warm summer days, toke up and turn them on. Their Southern rock sound is the perfect anthem to a stoner summer.
