Parents 4 Pot Oregon Sparks Interest

Parents 4 Pot Oregon has come together and shown how fast a group can get results with a dedicated team of volunteers. Their only online presence is a Facebook page right now. They attribute their quick growth to their one-on-one interactions. Chapter coordinators include Jay and Trish Searls, Max Bortnick and Barney and Michelle Murnin. They lead a small but mighty group that has accomplished a lot as they create their foundation.

Even though they started just about a month ago, this energized group has been spreading the word about Parents 4 Pot and has an impressive line up of projects for the near future. Their first showing will be at the Global Cannabis March in Portland, where they will have an informational booth. They plan to collect names and addresses of interested potential members as well as talk about the Parents 4 Pot mission. They will bring up the rear at the march in case participants need help. It can be a bit much for some, and there is a bus that follows close behind for those who need a lift.

On Monday evenings, you can find chapter coordinators at Plew’s Brews, Med Monday events. The music is great, the beer is good and this has become the place to be on Monday nights. Randy Plew, the owner and legalization super fan, now includes an educational segment to the evening for Parents 4 Pot Oregon. Not only do they raise awareness for the organization, they also answer questions for people who are trying to get their medical cards. They also share general information that is helpful for parents or anybody who wants to know more about cannabis.

They have already held membership meetings that have been work groups to get ready for the March. These will develop into regularly scheduled meetings which will expand and be made more public as they grow. They are already planning a new member gathering for the near future. It is sure to be informational and entertaining. You will want to become a member before this one happens; it’s going to be a blast!

The group will soon be seen on the local TV show, Cannabis Common Sense, which has been serving the cannabis community for years. Since the show is also streamed on the internet, the audience is worldwide. They are also in the development stages of a podcast to be aired on I Heart Radio, which also has a broad reach.

Chapter Coordinator, Jay says, “The response has been amazing and far greater than I ever thought it would be. People are excited and ready for this! I am thrilled about what we are going to do!”
