Weed Lifestyle

As long as I’ve been smoking, I’ve loved casinos and gambling. Unfortunately, with the exception of basement games with friends, I’ve never gotten to gamble baked. You can’t toke in casinos and I’ve never been interested in meeting the business end of security. If ever there was a booze first environment it’s casinos.

Thankfully, this all changed at the Dope Cup this year. Not only did I get to gamble high, I got to play BLITZED. As I stated in my previous article, Old Vegas was the theme of the Dope Cup this year. In addition to all the weed, there was a fully functional play money casino. It was legit right down to the dealers and lounge singer. It was an amazing distraction for the medicated mind.

Gambling while stoned was a fascinating experience. For starters, I could not believe how conservative I was with my bets. You know that liquid courage that makes you double down or go all-in, it was totally gone whilst lifted. Without going off on a tangent, in Blackjack I bought Insurance, in Craps I bet DON’T PASS, in Roulette I played REDS/BLACKS or ODDS/EVENS — these are bets I simply don’t make and I know what I’m doing.

Smart or stupid, “bet big, win big and walk away” has always been my strategy for casinos. However, the Sativas called for a strategy that was totally different. Sustainability became my passion when it came to wagers. The stoner gods were telling me to play tighter and last longer.

I didn’t end up winning anything real or fake, but as my Swinger Trent would say, I “…was still the big winner” that night. Table games on cannabis were like a revelation. Gambling is legal in Washington state, I’ll never disrespect house rules, but medibles on the way in sure seem like a boss idea. Here’s to beating the house… on weed.
