Cleaning Magic Flight Launch Box - Weedist

Not long ago I posted a review of the Magic Flight Launch Box.  Since then, I have put it to good use. However, unlike a glass piece or a one-hitter where you can let the resin build until you feel like cleaning it, this thing needs some regular maintenance to keep it in tip-top shape.

I’m still getting used to using the MLFB, so there have been times where I accidentally let the herb combust, or didn’t brush it out properly after each use. The box shouldn’t require much cleaning if you brush it out after each load. However, my box has built up a little resin inside. Cleaning this while not damaging the screen was a little challenging, but I took some advice from the MLFB website on how to do it properly.

I first put the magic flight box in front of my space heater to get it all warmed up. I then engaged the battery to heat up the screen, and used the cleaning brush with a little bit of isopropyl alcohol to brush the screen down. However, this did not completely remove all of the resin.

In order to get the last bit, I took the end of a paper clip and VERY carefully scraped the remaining resin off, all while engaging the battery in intervals to keep it hot. Keeping it hot helped the resin become looser and easier to get off.  If you end up doing this, make sure to be very careful as it’s very easy to damage the screen.

This was pretty risky business, but now that I know what’s up I will make sure to brush the screen off after each use.

As for the draw-stem, I let it soak in some isopropyl alcohol for a few minutes, then ran a pipe cleaner through it a few times. I then soaked it in some water and rinsed it out really well.

I wiped down the outside with a damp cloth to clean off smudges and other things like that.

Now my Magic Flight Launch Box is fresh and clean. As a last measure I blew it out really well and heated it up to evaporate any of the alcohol that may have been left, and now it’s clean and ready to go!
