RAW Organic Rolling Papers: How to Achieve a Perfect Seal Every Time

Dabs may be all the rage these days, but I still love my flowers. When it comes to sampling a new marijuana strain, my preference is to roll it up and smoke it to truly appreciate its unique taste and smell. In order to truly appreciate the herb (never mind for health reasons), I always reach for RAW rolling papers.

RAW organic rolling papers are made from “organically grown chlorine free pure hemp“, which means pesticides and toxic non-natural fertilizers are not used in the process. Not only does it help ensure chemicals and other additives aren’t messing with the strain’s taste and smell, but I don’t need to be burning these types of substances and welcoming them into my body. These papers are also non-GMO and vegan, even the glue that seals the joint.

Many who use these organic papers have the glue fail on them, wasting both time and paper. When I first switched to these papers a couple of years ago, I had to grapple with this issue as well. Underlick the glue and it doesn’t stick. Overlick this vegan/organic glue and too often you just completely remove the glue from the paper.

In terms of my paraphernalia and approach, I grind my cannabis and use a joint rolling machine, which helps ensure the joint burns more slowly and consistently. When consuming alone, I use 1¼ size papers as well as rolling paper filter tips.

Here’s what works for me 98% of the time and even when it doesn’t, the same technique will save the joint / rolling paper the 2% of the time it doesn’t work:

• After I feed most of the paper into the rolling machine, I lightly lick the backside of the gum, then finish rolling the paper into the machine. Again this works 98% of the time.
• In the rare instances the joint comes out of the machine with less than a perfect seal, no worries at all. The paper will still be nicely folded, just ensure it’s tight and lick the backside of the gum wherever the seal is less than perfect. Joint saved!

Yes, the glue on RAW organic rolling papers is more temperamental than many other brands, but the taste and health benefits are worth it in my opinion. Just lightly lick the backside of the gum and you’re good to go!

A final parting tip to those who prefer smoking joints fairly often. If you buy them in bulk on Amazon, you can get them for under $1 per pack, vs $2.50-$4.00 per pack depending on where you live.
