All-One!

I’ve never been one to use fancy soaps that contain lavish ingredients, like shea butter or chamomile. I usually just buy some cheap, industrial strength soap that cleans the shit out of me but leaves my skin feeling dry and smelling soapy. I had to break this habit when I discovered Dr. Bronner’s all-natural castile soaps.

Emanuel Bronner, a soap maker, was born in 1908 and was notable for his castile soaps that lathered into vast amounts of suds from just a few tiny drops of soap. Despite losing his parents during the Holocaust, Bronner was very spiritual and promoted beliefs in goodness and the unity of humanity.

Dr. Bronner passed away in 1997, but his family continues the legacy he began. All the products still feature Dr. Bronner’s original writing for the labels, which include these cool proverbs and words of wisdom.  They are all certified organic and fair trade, which means that the products are easy on the earth as well as those involved in the making process.

Dr. Bronner Tea Tree Soap, Source: http://www.drbronner.com/DBMS/TEA.htmThe products themselves are amazing. I’ve been using the Tea Tree Liquid soap, as well as the bar. With only a couple of drops or a few rubs, you can lather the soap into a massive amount of suds, which is nice because one bottle  or bar of this stuff will last for a very long time. It also has a unique and clean smell, and I’ve found it helps me wake up in the morning.

The tea tree soap that I bought contains tea tree oil, a natural anti-septic that is great for things like cuts, scratches, acne, dermatitis, and psoriasis. The soaps also contain hemp oil, coconut oil, olive oil, and more.

The company sells more than just soaps; you can also get lotions, gels, and sanitizers that all contain natural, fair-trade ingredients. You can check all this out by visiting Dr. Bronner’s website. On the home page, there is a sweet picture of him cradling one of his soaps, looking like a mad scientist.

These soaps, gels and lotions are a great way to change up the usual shower/bathroom items we buy, they have some cool history, and they contain hemp oil! They are also pretty inexpensive, and I think in three years, when my tea tree soap finally runs out, I will definitely come back for more.
