Hemp

As reported in the Denver Post yesterday, Colorado is now the first state in the United States to have a legal hemp operation.

So far the federal government hasn’t released an official statement, although we do know that they intend to keep the status quo regarding marijuana and hemp’s status.

However, this is a great first step toward actually seeing some real results from 64’s passage, which is to say that industrial hemp farming, should it be allowed to continue without any federal (or state, for that matter) intervention, is expect to bring in a good deal of revenue, create jobs (there you go, deficit hawks) and create an entirely new industry that will produce more environmentally-friendly clothes, food, and lots, lots more.
