Consumption

When I moved to Washington, I was a big doob head for quite some time. I loved the idea of choosing my strains so much, it didn’t matter to me how I hit them. However, when BHO hit the scene I obviously needed to get a pipe. Historically, I have always had and defended heady grade smoking tools, but with expenses from my recent cross-country move, a more economic purchase was in order.  I walked up the street to a head shop (man I love Seattle) and the best bang for my buck turned out to be an in-line percolator.

In-Line Perc: Take One

Compact footprint, water filtration and dual purpose for oils and flowers: not too shabby, right?

I thought so too, but a few months of heavy use told a different story. It got me high, but with a lot of frustrations. I found the diffusion and cooling level to be lackluster. Too big a hit and it seemed there wasn’t enough water; too small a hit and the smoke moved scattered and out-of-sync. If you’ve smoked hash oil, you know that at those temperatures, inconsistent smoke is not a problem you want.

The Original In-Line Perc

I finally had enough and went looking for another piece. When the best option on a heady quality piece turned out to be another in-line, I was very anxious. However, this in-line in particular happened to have been blown by the inventor of the in-line, Hops Glass. To call my Hops piece epic would be a clichéd understatement, this thing is a mad man.

Thankfully, it was not just another in-line. This was what an in-line is supposed to be. It’s suitable for flowers and oil, fits in the palm of my hand, and hits like a howitzer! Feeling ambitious? With gnarly snaps not only does it keep up, it lets you know you will likely fail before it does. Hit it hard, hit it soft or in between, it’s all good.

The lesson here may sound like you get what you pay for, but that has such a negative connotation. If anything, my contention would be that it’s clear headies make pipes for headies, not just for money. I would say my piece is great justification for digging just a little deeper to go for a known artist. Heady is not just about looks, though most in this class do look cherry, heady speaks to comfort too. Heady is about smokin’ a lot. I smoke a lot, I bet you do too…
