Diane Russell (D-Portland) will introduce a bill Thursday that would make possession of limited amounts of marijuana legal for adults 21 and older and establish a system in which marijuana is regulated and taxed like alcohol.

Rep. Russell will announce the details of the bill and its several co-sponsors at a news conference at 12:00 p.m. EST in the State House Welcome Center. She will be joined by Rep. Aaron Libby (R-Waterboro), former school superintendent Denny Gallaudet, ACLU executive director Shenna Bellows, and David Boyer, Maine political director for the Marijuana Policy Project.
