Colorado MMJ Meet and Greet, Source: Prospero

It was delicious.

Well, it finally happened. The skills I gained from my years of toil in the food service industry has finally allowed me do something truly awesome.

I speak of the chance I got to budtend at the most recent Colorado MMJ Meet and Greet. Over 600 people packed the Aztlan Theater’s two stories this past Sunday and smoked, dabbed, ate, and otherwise medicated freely in a party hosted by AJ the Hashman, At Home Baked, and Cannapages.

Much like busting out cups of coffee and short-order breakfast sandwiches at Dunkin Dontus or serving plates at various restaurants I bused tables for/cooked in over the years, I spent about 90 minutes filling requests for Cali Og, Shoreline, Crazy Train, Sour Diesel (two different strains of Sour D, though my memory of this entire event is understandably hazy), and lots more. Over a dozen dispensaries from around Denver contributed over a pound of bud for the bar at this event. A menu with all the available strains was on hand for patients to order from and get their bowl packed with their bud of choice.

This month’s event featured music from local jam band Whisky Tango, live artist painting, and plenty of samples of everything from honey oil to earwax to medicated apple butter (all which were delicious.) At the Karmaceuticals table, we were raffling off 3 super blunts (one 14 gram and two that were over 1 oz each, though that was the weight without the wrap and before I tipped them all with keef from the grinder). Patients were able to roam around and enjoy the many different tables featuring different glass pieces for sale, promotional swag, and plenty more MMJ related goodies.

I have to thank AJ, everyone at At Home Baked, every dispensary that gave meds, and all the patients who came and made this event so great. Having been to a few previous meet and greets, I knew that the bigger venue along Denver’s Santé Fe arts district would draw a much larger crowd. The great turn out is absolutely a sign that more vents like this can exist successfully in the future; with the recent passage of Amendment 64, private cannabis clubs are starting to pop up more often around the state. With a city-approved event such as this already successfully operating, it is only a matter of time before parties like this become commonplace.

The next meet and greet has already been announced for Sunday, February 24. Once again, it will be held at the Aztlan Theater at 974 Santa Fe Drive in Denver, Colorado. More information can be found at their website.
