The Czech Pipe Tool is actually so versatile and cheap to purchase that I have two of them in my weedist tool kit.

I love the Czech Pipe Tool over the more traditional pipe tool because it has a flattened spoon for its reamer.

A typical pipe tool consists of a tamper, poker and reamer:

  • The tamper is a blunt instrument, either a simple dowel or shaped like the top of a nail, with a flat end for tamping down the cannabis when the bowl is being packed, and for crushing the ash together to aid relighting.
  • The poker (aka pick or spike) is a narrow rod or pin that can be used to clear the shank of debris, or used to aerate tightly packed cannabis. Because it is sharp  it shouldn’t be used for scraping glass or mesh screens.
  • The reamer is a flat instrument shaped like a dull pen-knife blade or a flattened spoon, used to scrape ash and unburned cannabis off the sides and bottom of a pipe.

How to Use First Czech Pipe Tool (for fresh cannabis):

  •  The Czech Pipe Tool really shines in conjunction with my 4 piece grinder, whether for extracting that wonderful smelling freshly ground cannabis or for helping to remove all that shake and kief before cleaning the grinder. By using a clean tool specifically for fresh cannabis, I avoid any germs, ash, sticky tars etc. from using my fingers or a tool also used to clean ashed cannabis.

4 piece Titanium Crusher grinder. Careful not to damage the kief screen (#3)!

  • The poker on the Czech Pipe Tool is great for pushing through stuck marijuana in the Teeth (#2 above). If the Teeth are still connected to the Kief Screen (#3), do not push the poker down so far to hit the mesh screen, which could damage it.
  • The tapered spoon (reamer) is fantastic for scooping up the ground herb from the Kief Screen. It’s dull and flattened enough to gently glide across the screen and you can really work it around the circular rim where the mesh meets the metal.
  • The tapered spoon is equally up to the task of gathering kief from the Kief Catcher (#4).
  • Since the spoon is tapered, it’s makes loading the freshly ground cannabis into my Arizer Solo stem, bong slide, dugout, or glass bowl so much easier.
  • If necessary, you can use the tamper on the Czech Pipe Tool to help pack down some of your bowls just don’t let it get sticky with tar and resin since this tool is for fresh cannabis.
  • There are near limitless other uses for these 3 pieces on the pipe tool for your weed setup!

How to Use Second Czech Pipe Tool (for used cannabis):

  • The poker and reamer do most of the heavy lifting here and can be used to clean and unjam your paraphernalia but again be careful not to scratch glass or mesh screens.
  • The poker can be used to unclog a bowl, cigarette one hitter in your dugout, the holes in your glass stems and slides, on and on.
  • The reamer can be used to remove stuck ash and burned plant matter, scrape some sticky resin that just won’t come off, etc.
